Seminar Week: Comforting Unknown Species
A RAPLAB seminar week at ETH Zürich: a framed world of invented species, with UV-reactive paint for the night.
For a couple of months our office window was a whole invented world. The participants made up species that live in the sky, on the earth and underground, and all of it fit into one frame.
I set the topic and taught methods of rapid prototyping and creative thinking. The frame had a day and a night lighting setup. At night, UV light brought out the reactive paint.
The models are silicone moulds, poured polyurethane, Monster Clay, Super Sculpey, vermiculite, acrylic and UV paint, styrofoam and a lot of airbrush.
